First steps

General Settings​

  1. Please open Shopify, open Apps and choose the Duty and Tax Calculator.
  2. Now you are at the Dashboard of the app. Please select General Settings next. settings 1
  3. Here you have the possibility to choose your Pricing Strategy. Pricing Strategy settings help in calculations when an exact or full HS code. is not provided. Please refer HS code section for more details specific to the HS code Strategy. settings 2
  4. You can choose from these three options. settings 3
  • MINIMUM - The system will return the minimum duty rate found in the tariffs based on the number of HS digits the caller provides in the request.
  • MAXIMUM - The system will return the maximum duty rate found in the tariffs based on the number of HS digits the callers provide in the request.
  • AVERAGE - The system will return the average duty rate found in the tariffs based on the number of HS digits the caller provides in the request.

Depending on the HS code provided, there could be multiple Duty & Tax quotes from our trade database, the app will decide quote based on the Pricing strategy set in our app for a given Shopify store. The pricing strategy is based on the first 6 digits should there not be an exact match for the HS code provided. World Trade Organization Countries are standardized at 6 digits so beyond that, it becomes country specific.

Products​

  1. Please open Shopify, open Apps and choose the Duty and Tax Calculator.
  2. Now you are at the Dashboard of the app. Please select Products next. products 1
  3. As you can see below, this window will now open. Here automatically the filter was set, which shows all products, for which the HS-Code and the Country of Origin are still missing. products 2

If you do not see any products here, you have probably already defined the HS codes and Country of Origin at your products. Then just delete the filters here, after that you should see all your products if you have already added any in Shopify.

  1. Now to add them please click on the edit icon in the Edit in Shopify column.
  2. The product settings will open. Please select the appropriate HS Code and Country of Origin. These options are located in the Shipping window, as shown in the screenshot. products 3

This feature allows you to add the HS Code and Country Code of Origin for multiple products at the same time.
